Where to Look for the Right Record
- Current Dakota County custody: start at the sheriff’s Dakota County Corrections Center page and its official JDS roster link. A current-custody result can change after release, transfer, or a case update.
- Booking record or releasable booking photograph: use the sheriff’s Records & Reports process. State the person’s full name, approximate booking date, arresting agency, and any case or Jail ID known. Nebraska’s Neb. Rev. Stat. §84-712 generally calls for a response or estimate within four business days, but it does not guarantee release of every record or image.
- South Sioux City incident or arrest report: the city Police Documents page lists South Sioux City Police at 402-494-7512. County custody and booking questions remain with the county system.
- Dakota City or Homer records: neither community has a separate local police-records route identified in the research. The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office is the primary local path.
- Case events and disposition: use Nebraska’s JUSTICE trial-case search or the appropriate court office. A booking charge is an accusation, and the court record supplies the later outcome.
- Sentenced state custody: use the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services incarceration search. Its coverage is different from the county’s current-custody roster.
- Federal or immigration detention: use the BOP inmate locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator, as appropriate. A missing county roster result does not establish federal or immigration status.
